Many moons ago when I was just a wee tacker I witnessed a drag racing car legend. Little did I know but I saw John Zappia's "Southside Monaro" racing when it still had a standard HQ front end.
Well years later I still went down to Ravenswood Raceway near my home town of Perth to see the fastest monaro in the world. By that stage it just looked like a monaro, complete with a painted-on-fibreglass HQ front end. But by gee it was an impressive sight to watch Zappia lay a 200m burnout down the track just to warm those tyres up :)
The Southside Monaro otherwise know as "Zap's Rat" retired from racing many years ago, but I hear it still exists used in promotional work - much like Mad Max's Falcon Coupe.
Athough I have the copy I wasn't actually the one who got this autographed poster from the hey-days of it's racing; many thanks to Sandy Brown who probably doesn't even know that I have it :)
